Hyksos
The Hyksos introduced many new changes to Egyptian life. The army was completely changed the new weapons were used. The Hyksos made changes in the Egyptian language simplifying it. They also introduced a simpler form of mathematics. New laws were introduced and a strict moral code was set up. It became law that a man could have only one wife. Under the Hyksos the spinning and weaving trades were encouraged. Also there was more freedom in allowing artist to make things in gold and precious stones. One big change was that the building of large monuments pyramids and other religious structures stopped. The Hyksos introduced new gods and did not allow the Egyptian priest the special privileges they had enjoyed under the pharaohs. Although the Hyksos ruled Egypt from 1785 to 1580 B.C. they were always considered outsiders and were hated by the Egyptians. During their rule there were many rebellions and uprisings. In 1580 B.C a confident young ruler Ahmose I raised a powerful Egyptian army and drove the Hyksos out of Egypt. The Nile Valley was once again ruled by its own people.
